The Gambling Commission is preparing for "major changes" to the UK gambling industry in 2024. UKGC policy director Ian Angus highlighted the critical year ahead and the importance of changes to the Licensing Standards and Code of Practice (LCCP) and the development of an ombudsman scheme to make gambling safer, fairer and crime-free. Angus told the Lotteries Council, "In the new year, we will see the publication of the consultation response and some important changes will gain ground." Separately, the UKGC's current consultation deals with these nuances as age tests and financial vulnerability tests. Upcoming consultations, outlined by CEO Tim Miller, will focus on socially significant incentives and gambling management tools in early winter. UKGC director of research and statistics Ben Hayden outlined two upcoming plans to work with regulators to revive daily aggregated customer data and make more useful use of operational data. In addition, the UKGC is considering introducing a "gold standard" for data collection with the support of the England Gambling Survey. This will provide more accurate and meaningful information and lead to better section matching. The data is expected to be published next spring. CasinoBeats View Mark

I think the gambling sample survey is done correctly: 20, 000 responses per year is a pretty good sample size.

In 2027, the Gambling Commission will celebrate 20 years of regulating gambling in England. Since 2007, the gambling industry and the way consumers interact with gambling products and services have changed significantly and will continue to change in the future. Gambling and its regulation remain a controversial topic with many different opinions. The government has been considering and planning reforms after a broad regulatory review under the Gambling Act of 2005. The document "Regulating Gambling in the Digital Age" provides for the provisions of the government's White Paper and the issuance of the fourth state lottery license, and also sets out the values of the Gambling Commission until 2027. We set out the focus and main commitments of our work to improve gambling regulation for consumers, the public and the licensed industry. It also highlights what we pursue (our main regulatory outcomes) for the benefit of society, based on our areas of responsibility, obligations and capabilities. https://lnkd. in/e6Bz6CGX

On Thursday, the Gambling Commission will publish the results of its first (to be annual) Survey of Gambling in England (GSGB). The Commission cites GSGB as "the world's largest study of people's gambling behaviour" and "a process that allows us to understand people's attitudes towards gambling and their behaviour across the country, making it the key to winning gambling in the UK". To study such a self-proclaimed scale, one can only trust that it will actually be reliable and stand up to rigorous testing. As a result, it is noteworthy that the Commission has actually timed its publication to "help those who wish to apply the Gambling England Rating (GSGB) to ensure that it is properly reflected in the report". "A generous job indeed. But it is noteworthy that in this leadership, the Commission says that "GSGB will not go out of its way to request direct comparisons with previous survey results on gambling or health". This contributes to the media light, intentionally or unintentionally, focusing on the path, not the target. Anyone involved in this industry needs to look closely at this.{space}

Last chance to personally contribute to the evolution of the industry: the consultation on the objectives of gambling regulation in England closes. The consultation period, which gives industry experts the last chance to influence the future evolution of gambling regulation in England, is about to close. This important consultation stage is crucial for stakeholders to help craft a safe regulatory framework that reflects the advanced digital age and in its own way protects consumers. The main changes are as follows: Strengthening consumer rights protection Strengthening consumer rights protection: Changes will be made aimed at strengthening defense measures to better ensure their protection and serious role, especially in vulnerable and young people. Introduction of a gambling ombudsman function: Of particular note is the introduction of a university ombudsman. This ombudsman will facilitate the effective discussion and resolution of customer complaints and ensure a more courteous attitude towards customers, especially in the industry. Liberalization of land-based casinos: Regulation of classic casinos will be relaxed. Major improvements and updates: Reassessment of gambling
