NCAA reveals COVID-19 contingency plans for hoops tourneys

(AP) -The top four teams, that is, the remaining teams left behind in March, are unlikely to explode immediately.

According to an emergency response measure published by the Division I's basketball committee on Thursday, the four teams leaked from the NCAA gender tournament are ranked in order and have multiple entries as an alternative team when it becomes an secondary education institution. Function.

If the tournament starts without an entrance examination, all four teams can participate in NIT.

Planning to deal with unexpected situations will be applied only for a short period of time from the bracket announcement (March 14 and March 15 for girls) to the start of the game at the beginning of the week. Once the tournament begins, the team whose participating players decline will automatically go to the next round.

  • Lucas Oil Stadium is prepared for the Men's NCAA basketball tournament

Before the qualifying of the NCAA tournament begins, a school problem occurs at a school, the conference has any chance to specify the alternative team, and the team is bracked based on individual results.

A singl e-rate conference has a chance to choose a substitute for them if the team does not pass the free analysis for 7 days.

For the pandemic, the men's tournament will be held in West Rafayette Maki Arena and Bloomington Assembly Hall, starting with the first quad on March 18. End 4 will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the championship will be scheduled for April 5.

The women's tournament will start in the first round on March 21 and will be held in San Antnio and adjacent Austin and San Marcos. Final 4 will be held at Alamo Dome, and the winning match will be held on April 4.

The basketball committee created a personal blue photo to address unexpected situations based on four guidelines: the release of the bracket is not subject to change or redemption, tournament. Before the start, it is necessary to secure absolute backgrounds to prevent the replacement of the team after the start of play, and each participating conference must own at least one team on the coat, and as an auxiliary team. The best team must play according to the number of remaining members.

Nearly all of these rules were used by the Division I Athletic and Supervisory Committee to create similar designs for winter championships such as wrestling and gymnastics. The project also applies to men's and women's cross country and men's aqua polo, which are considered the fall form of the sport but will have championships announced in March.
