Las Vegas will experience another historic transformation on Thursday when Resorts World Las Vegas, a $4. 3 billion resort developed by Malaysian group Genting Berhad, opens its doors to the Strip's first megaresort in more than a decade.

The most technologically advanced resort ever built will open to the public at 11pm after a VIP party with poolside entertainment and fireworks.

Resorts World Las Vegas will offer keyless access to hotel rooms via Bluetooth connection on mobile phones and a cashless casino where users can use digital wallets to bet on slot machines and table games. In addition, the resort will have one of the world's largest video screens, covering 100, 000 square meters, on the south facade of the resort's west tower.

K. Genting Group Chairman K. T. Lim and several of the company's executives attended a gala on Thursday to celebrate the culmination of Lim's father, the late Genting founder Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong's lifelong dream to open a resort in Las Vegas.

K. T. Lim has been involved with Resorts World Las Vegas every step of the way, hiring former MGM Resorts International director and UNLV alumnus Scott Sibella as the resort's president in 2019.

Lim visited Las Vegas regularly as Resorts World grew to 3, 506 rooms under the Hilton brand, and Lim stayed in touch, meeting regularly online with Sibella, even during the coronavirus pandemic.

Strengthening the vision

Though new to Las Vegas, Genting has spent nearly 55 years honing its vision for an integrated resort.

In 1965, Lim's father had the idea to build a resort on a mountaintop in Malaysia that became known as Genting Highlands.

Genting Highlands, which eventually became Resorts World Genting, has seven hotels, two theme parks, five shopping malls, and Malaysia's only legal casino.

Las Vegas architect Paul Stillman, who designed Resorts World Las Vegas, was a frequent visitor to Resorts World Genting.

Stillman, a close friend of Lim's, said, "It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen."

Steelman said Lim and his family came up with the concept of an integrated resort, and the late chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corp. Sheldon Adelson refined it, adapted it to Las Vegas, and added conference rooms to accommodate weekday Las Vegas tourists.

Now Resorts World Las Vegas also houses a convention center. The hotel has 50 meeting rooms, six customizable ballrooms, 23. 000 square meters of ballroom and terrace, 250. 000 square meters of flexible meeting space with floor-to-ceiling windows, 30-meter dynamic LED walls, and digital pillars in the meeting rooms. Space. Resorts World's meeting rooms are 30 meters away from the hotel's elevators.

Boring's first tunnel will connect the shopping mall to the West Concourse of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The project is under construction and will be connected to the planned Vegas Loop transportation system.

Resorts World Genting is the company's flagship resort, but over time it has expanded operations to other countries and diversified its business.

Genting recently acquired a 49% stake in the $1. 2 billion Resorts World Catskills, hoping to boost revenue from the struggling property by attracting downtown customers. Genting is also acquiring gaming properties on the East Coast to establish a larger presence in the United States.

The company has been lobbying for years for plans to build a multibillion-dollar integrated resort on a 14-acre site in Miami that it acquired in 2011. The plan has yet to be approved by local authorities.

In 2013, the casino operator opened a small gambling facility in the Bahamas, just 80 kilometers off the coast of Florida. Resorts World Bimini has 305 rooms, 160 slot machines, table games and sports betting.

Not long ago, Genting secured third-party consent for a full casino in Massachusetts and provided funding to the Mashpee Wampanoags to build a $1 billion casino in the southeastern part of the state.

Genting owns Las Vegas Sands Corp. in Singapore, which has a casino and a themed park on the Sentosa Peninsula. Genting operates more than 40 casinos in the UK and currently controls Resorts World Birmingham.

50 Million Guests Per Year

Genting hosts more than 50 million guests per year, making it the darling of the industry for gambling, serenity and friendliness. The company also invites a whole set of additional offers thanks to its partnerships with Crockfords, Maxim's, Crystal Cruises, Dream Cruises and Star Cruises. Genting also owns Universal Studios, Premium Outlets, Hard Rock Hotels, Zouk It also partners with popular brands such as.

According to the company's corporate filing, Genting has diversified its own work as it owns all the shares of Genting Energy Limited, which is not listed on the stock exchange. Other subsidiaries are trained in palm oil plantations, oil and gas, real estate development, life sciences and biotechnology, and its work tightens around the world.

Lim and Genting's supporters made the right sentiments to Nevada's gambling regulator when they spoke to the board in May to regulate gambling in the state.

"The background is great, the business is indescribable, the financial characteristics are great, the coefficients are great," Council Chairman Bryn Gibson said at the end of the demonstration. "This application is commendable. I have almost no comments."

Britney Watkins, the board noted, noticed her debut marketing video Resorts World Las Vegas on April 25 as part of the Academy Awards ceremony.

"I basically believe what you do, kids, everything is great. "Watkins said.

"Since then, we've transformed into an international conglomerate," Lim told board members. "This (the opening of Resorts World Las Vegas) will really be a standout element in the group's picture."

Our founders would be very proud of the resort they established in Las Vegas. "The fact that we're actually unveiling new, original entertainment in Las Vegas is a sign of recognition of the Resorts World global brand."
