The BT Sport DAZN and Discovery Pantomime
The BT Sport, DAZN and Discovery Pantomime
BT has been trying to get BT Sport going for months, at least since April this year. The Sunday Times (19 December) reports that negotiations with potential bidders for BT Sport, reportedly worth £600 million, are "dragging on". No kidding.
DAZN was apparently the first contender, but now Discovery is said to be proposing a joint venture with BT. All this seems like a seasonal pantomime, if there is a public need, to remind us that there is no limit to the possibilities of football and TV combinations that can lure rational-minded leaders into making total fools of them.
BT Sport, for example, was a clever idea, but the execution was a failure. As a result, BT has accepted its own responsibility, blamed its previous bosses, and promised shareholders that it would focus more on important issues such as financing the pension savings deficit and securing BT's dominant position in fibre optic technology.
Some time ago, BT steadfastly refused to acquire any new major broadcasting rights and now wants to run BT Sport as an active company. When ESPN left the UK scene almost a decade ago and sold to BT, it was precisely as a result that BT Sport called ESPN BT Sport. If DAZN were to buy the company, could we see a DAZN BT ESPN channel?
BT Sports resale problems
But BT has had problems realizing a significant resale business. It was never clear that the BT Sport business was profitable, but if there was a thesis that BT Sport was important, it was based on the advantage of BT's broadband business in improving retention of broadband customers who were gifted with free sports offers. The problem is that when selling a similar business to someone else, these good characteristics are not carried over, so the sold business is likely to be structurally unprofitable. If we focus on tangible, transferable revenues and costs, direct subscription revenues alone cannot cover rights costs. The ongoing BT Sport rights resale deal is simply so expensive that no one would want to take part in it. As a result, resales always seem difficult and negotiations are often protracted.
As always, the right to broadcast the Premier League (PL) is paid close attention. If you want to freeze with a serious player in DAZN England, the charm of the right to PL is specified, and if you do not get B T-sports, you need to wait for a specific year to participate. It is clear that BT is eager to move the PL and his front position earlier this year to avoid the risk of replacement, although the BT is likely to reduce costs. After that, the transaction transactio n-acquisition of BT sport s-freezes the dazuns for the dazun.
In principle, the balance price of the P L-rights has not needed to be an implementation impairment because only the BTs had no opportunity to Sky, so it does not need to be an implementation failure, and as a result, the price is from Sky. It does not require a certain display. Unfortunately, the cost is very high, and in 2012, it has failed to overpay BT (in the context of losing replenishment in 2012) in 2012 much higher than the market value. Further auction costs that are not paying attention to the incapacity of competition.
Another contradiction of BT is saved in one specific amount of its cost behind the rights to the Champions League, before the war with Sky. This does not look like a sweet deal of DAZN.
Definitely helps resale, BT has a high possibility that this difficulty needs to abandon your pride. If the current rights resale conspiracy costs 100 million pounds, and £ 70 million is objective and cautious, it will record £ 300 million. But this is embarrassing. Negotiations are not easy, BT probably concessions and do not want to clarify with shareholders toward the right year.
The Sunday Times is desired by DAZN for a BT broadband, when it is autonomous to cover the cost of BT sports, when BT is autonomous to cover the cost of BT sports. Report that negotiations are in a deadlock for something. This is another way to click a circle, pretending to be something that is actually formed and something is not formed. BT will pay a huge number of "subscribers", including the perfect cost for BT sports, for almost all databled band buyers.
If BT has so far announced that it will fulfill the required amount of BT sports and a huge game, the game will try to find a place where they are hiding the confirmation of reports.
BT Sports has the ability to work on a DAZN project, albeit hard.
It is not always the case that resale will not occur. Occasionally, people take meaningless actions, and Dazs can really fall into traps. Another Option s-Dazn see perfectly in the fall, everything will fall in exactly the same, but it will expire to IPO in 2022 in Gevargen's situation, making it difficult to do so. I will transfer it to someone else as it becomes clear.

As a result, Dazn seems to be a bad idea or a failed friendly idea. The too early DAZN situation was because it was a reasonable and effective way to make money from the sports broadcasting rights that OTT did not go to a major sports broadcasting station. However, as well, the Dazun was tempted by the idea of freezing Netflix for sports that claim premium rights.
